Planning a trip to Disney?  Here are just a few basic tips.

Pack a backpack - extra pockets are a bid help.  Not only is great for holding your camera, signature book and trading pins,  it is great for carrying snacks for low blood sugars, monitors, insulin, syringes, and bottles of water.  I know that there is a snack stand on every corner, but you never know when the blood sugar is going to just drop out from under your T1.  I suggest taking small, non-melting candies - i.e. Pez (9 carbs) or Smarties (10 carbs).  I don't mean to offend anyone by telling you to give your child candy - I am not a doctor - I am just trying to give quick and easy suggestions.  For my child, when his blood sugar drops really fast at the parks, he needs something that is going to work fast.  I am only suggesting what works for my family.  The adrenaline that your child is experiencing by being at the parks can really take its toll on the blood sugar.  Monitor the blood closely and don't let a low or high sneak up on you.  As much as adrenaline can drop the blood sugar, it can also spike it.

Keep your insulin cool!  Pack it in an insulated pack inside your backpack.  When you get a refrigerator for your room, put a cold pack in the very top every night so it will be cool.  I have not checked, but you may be able to check with the resort to see if they keep any type of icepacks.  Or if you are staying at a resort that offers concierge level service, try asking them if they will keep your icepacks cool until each morning.  With the level of service that we got from Animal Kingdom Lodge when we stayed there, I would not be surprised if they would have done that for us.  They kept a case of Sprite Zero on hand for my son and gave us a couple cans to keep in our room.  At the time we were already on the pump, so cold packs were not an issue for us.  When we were on shots, we would keep the bottles in our backpack and as long as we did not leave the packs in the direct sun for long periods of time, they seemd to do ok.  By the way, if you have a medical condition, you can get a free refrigerator in your room. 

Also - keep snacks in your room.  All of the resorts have a wonderful dining area that is full of great things to take to the parks as handy snacks or to keep in your room for those night time lows.  They have yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit, bagels, bags of grapes, and many other choices.
