My 14-year-old son grew an inch taller in the last three months. The growth spurt led to lots of high blood sugars. Since he is an athlete and we were trying to avoid lows, we didn't adjust his insulin levels fast enough to avoid the 300s and 400s at times. He tests himself every two hours, and even when he gave himself insulin, sometimes his blood sugars just kept climbing. Has anyone found a reliable way to adjust for growth spurts?

We are new to this site but from what I have read I can tell this will be a great source of info.

I would to see responses you your post.  We also have a 13 year old who for days has highs in the 3-400 and can sometimes take 3 to 4 doses to get him down.  I understand that a lot of this has to do with puberty.  But can be very frustrating for the child as well as the parent.  Ricky tends to get very upset when he goes high. I know at least at this point he is not "cheating", that is not to say later when he has more freedom he won't.
