Hi, I was wondering if you could post a question on your wall. My daughter was dx 1 year ago, and she just came out of the honeymoon period about 2 months ago. We're talking about getting her a pump, but there are so many choices. I was curious to find out what everyone has to say about the pumps their kids are using. The pros & cons. Thank you so much, Lori Stinson

When JoJo was moving out of her honeymoon stage at 5 years old and her BG numbers where harder to control we began researching pumps.  We decided on an Animas pump because it gave very small insulin doses and that's what she needed for her age. A few years later we've upgraded to an Animas Ping.  I have to say we're not only happy with the pump but the customer service is superb.  Good luck with your search Smiley  Natalie

My daughter has been on the Animas Ping for a year.  I have no complaints about it at all.  We are Mac computer people, and it's the only pump that has Mac compatible software.  The customer service from Animas has been first rate, and our pump rep has gone above and beyond on many occasions.

My daughter is 13 and has been on Medtronic since June. We've never had anyother pump experience. Medtronic's 24 tech support/customer service has always been excellent. (and I will not hesitate to call about the dumbest thing) They're very nice and patient any time I call. They also send me free replacememt supplies if they have me test anything and waste it.

I have heard good things about the Animus(sp?)  because it does such tiny doses.

What ever you choose, once you get on a pump you'll be so glad. I felt like I could actually relax a little and breath.
Good luck with your decision -know that you probably can't make a bad choice.

We use the new Minimed Revel! It's great! My 14 yr old son has the sensor (CGMS) and it reads to the pump every 5 min. so he will know if he's going low or high, has arrows on the pump to show how fast he's going up or down plus the new Revel, shows that he has a high or low predicted so he can adjust it beforehand! Really cool stuff! There's also an exercise thing on it so he can say he's going to exercise, and an 'other' in case he's sick and needs more insulin. That way when it's uploaded to the carelink Minimed site, the Dr.'s will know WHY he was put in a higher or lower basal rate. Plus, now we can look at his trends every time we upload his pump to the site and email his Dr. and DE to let them know we just uploaded so they can review it and let us know if we need to make changes.

I am a T1 and so are 3 of my children.  I have been pumping for the past 11 years.  I have used the MM507c, MM508, Animas IR1000, Cozmo and now a MM722.  Emily was dx'd 12/13/10 and is pumping w/MM Revel.  Jesse was dx'd 5/7/10 and is pumping with Minimed Revel.  And Elizabeth Anne was dx'd 7/29/09 and is pumping with the Animas Ping.

I have found that I really don't care for the Animas pumps.  I like the convenience of the MM's pump that has the blood sugar pop on screen right after checking.  The only reason we bought the Animas for Elizabeth is because at the time it had the lowest basal rate.  Now the revel does too.  We are currently trying to make the switch.  It sucks having a different brand pump in the house.
