I don't think you are over reacting! You are trying to keep her safe.  Maybe talking to someone else can help her understand the dangers of doing this.  Maybe she didn't realize what she was doing.  I know insulin and blood sugar checks can be so routine sometimes that they don't even think about it.  I hope you get everything straightened out and will be praying for you!

One thing that you can do right away is to set the Max Bolus feature on the pump to a smaller dosage. We had my son's set on 5 units until just recently (he is now 12). You can always override it if necessary. You also might be able to disable the Easy Bolus feature so nothing is pressed accidentally. Other than that, I would ask lots of questions in a calm manner.

Best wishes. Everyday is a journey.

I'm so sorry that happened  to you - I can understand! My daughter did this when she was 10 with an insulin pen. She gave herself 30 units because she was mad at me for not letting her eat something she wanted. Thank God she told me about it right after she did it. We wound up in the hospital but she never went low because I kept giving her glucose. It was extremely scary.  She is very impulsive and it has been a long road helping her manage impulsivity and diabetes. She sees a psychologist and that has definitely helped her.

My 9 year old got up the other day and gave herself 10 units of insulin via her pump. When I asked her why she said she didnt know why she just did I dont know if she is just acting out or if this is something more?
