Has any parent had to have their child (type1) have to take Metformin to help their body absorb insulin?

From a FB thread:

Crystal:
I thought I was the only parent with this question!! My son is a newbee, dx 7/20/2011. We are taking 6 to 8 shots a day and 1 Metformin pill a day. This was a question I has also because I felt that Ethan was the only one... yes the dr said it was to help the boy absorb the insulin.. because he is so close to puberty age.
