Hi everyone,

I have been down at the beach for a week with my niece and nephew, both whom have type I.  As I was preparing a few meals for them and figuring their numbers etc, I realized that some of the containers show Net versus Total carbs (incorporating the fiber).  From some of the low-carb related diets my wife has been involved in over the years, I know the fiber is typically used to reduce the overall carb content.  I would be interested to hear how you all deal with this.  Thanks,  Lance

Question from a parent:

When carb counting, do I subtract the fiber for total carbs OR include the fiber??? I'm coming across more and more food items that have more fiber and if the fiber doesn't change bg why count it!?
