Our families evening routine from dinner to bedtime ofter seems as frenzied as a runaway elephant in a carnival.  How do you get it all done?  Dinner...snack...at least 2 BG tests...and the typical getting-ready-for-bed-routine; how do you do it so the kids get adequate rest for the next day?

we try to keep a pretty tight schedule so that things get done in a timely manor... but we have 3 other children, and a type 1 dad as well as our type 1 child...

usually our night goes as follows:
3pm ~ home from school BG and small snack
5pm ~ BG dinner atleast 50 carbs
7pm ~ BG and snack if needed (sometimes with the day coming to an end my son will go low from a days worth of stress. (no more carbs then what is needed to get him to bedtime target)
8:30pm ~ bed time with 1 more BG
Mid or 1am (depends on when I wake up) BG

this schedule usually works as planned... even with scouting and dance lessons we are able to pretty much adhere to it. Hope that helps.

wow!  bedtime routines?  it changes w/the day, depending on sporting activities.  we eat dinner hopefully at 6p then, so she takes bg then, if she has dessert later on she'll take it again, otherwise doesn't take it til bedtime, 9pm during school nightes.  and if in the target range then i can sleep at night!  sometimes i can go a month w/out checking at midnight!  she's also on a pump though so that helps.

It does always seem hectic at my house to.

5 to 6pm dinner with a BS check before.
8pm BS check then snack according to what the reading is.
Bed by 8:30.

I don't have to do a check in the middle of the night unless there have been issues throughout the day.
