Welcome Debbie...it is nice to meet you.  I hope you have connect with others who have teens.  I have two 8 year old who have type 1.  My 14 year old however doesn't.  I am finding the teens years challenging without having to deal with type 1.  However I will be experiencing it double time before I know it with my other two.  Have a great day!!!!

Hi Debbie,  I have a step-son with diabetes since 2005. It has been a scary road. The tests we have gone through showed he did not have type1 or mody or type2. He had blood taken and sent to england to test him. All I can say is he is insulin dependent. The teen years are a struggle with diabetes. Right now he is going through he is tired of dealing with the diabetes stuff. I have had to go back to the being were I remind him of testing and corrections. He will get tired of me calling him all the time and start doing his diabetes things for his self again. Whenhe is home I keep reminding him till he does the testing. After seeing the doctor I will know his A1C again and I will make a plan of how to get it under control again. Thanks for listening. I am a good listener.

HI I'm also new, to here anyway , my daughter cassie is T1- for 3 yrs now , and 51/2 yrs were pumpers on Medtronic , her levels are allover the place despite tight managements and her Hba1C's are going up . Currently we have " issues" with school , shes in kindergarten. On the good side shes very healthy , very rarely sick and we haven't need to be admitted to hospital since diagnosies, her Hb's are still in acceptable levels I guess ( 8.1, but use to be in 6 and low 7)
and she;s happy , smart and very active. And me , I'm tired *LOL* . We live in NSW Australia.
