When our daughter was diagnosed (at 4), we went to the library to look for a kid's book about diabetes.  We came across the book, Even Little Kids Get Diabetes, by Connie White Pirner. Her daughter, Lydia, was diagnosed at 2.  The book was comforting for her to read.  The only thing I didn't like was that the  little girl in the story didn't eat sweets...stereotypical! Did you have a favorite book or story when your child was diagnosed?

Our daughter was diagnosed at the end of August is is now 10 months old.  We are really struggling to find others who have, or have had, infants with Type 1 diabetes.  She's wearing a pump and her blood sugars are still in flux.  We're struggling to find information about infants specifically.  Anyone have a resource we can find?  Everything we read is geared toward older kids.

Bo, The Puppy With Diabetes written by Norma Flaherty
This book helps educate baby-preschool age children about diabetes, by sharing the story of Bo, the dog, who is diagnosed with diabetes.  Through the pages, you will encounter Dr. Dawg, Nancy Nurse and Dottie Dietitian along the way.

Check out how to order this and other books in our resource section
