Just wondering if there are any parents out there from NJ and if they know if there school has followed the New Jersey law for students with diabetes and adopted a policy? If so which one and are you happy with it?

I live in northern NJ.  My son was diagnosed less than a month ago.  So, we're still ironing out the policy issues with the school.  When I first scheduled my meeting with the teachers, I was basically railroaded by them and given a lousy, non-descript IHP that was so general they could have done, basically, anything they wanted with my child.  Fortunately, I have a friend who is a lawyer.  She helped me draft a letter detailing what is required, by NJ law, to be included in his IHP.  I can't say I'm happy with it yet, because I haven't seen the revised copy yet.  HOPEFULLY, it'll be MUCH better than what we started out with.   Wink

Hi. Where in nj do you live?  Fortunately we've been very lucky so far with the laws and the schools. Nothing major to report except maybe some people that are naive and need to be educated. We're in clifton.
