Just wondering if there are any parents out there from NJ and if they know if there school has followed the New Jersey law for students with diabetes and adopted a policy? If so which one and are you happy with it?
I live in northern NJ. My son was diagnosed less than a month ago. So, we're still ironing out the policy issues with the school. When I first scheduled my meeting with the teachers, I was basically railroaded by them and given a lousy, non-descript IHP that was so general they could have done, basically, anything they wanted with my child. Fortunately, I have a friend who is a lawyer. She helped me draft a letter detailing what is required, by NJ law, to be included in his IHP. I can't say I'm happy with it yet, because I haven't seen the revised copy yet. HOPEFULLY, it'll be MUCH better than what we started out with.
